Welcome to the Urology Department at Sri Arogya Hospital. We’re committed to offering comprehensive, leading-edge care for a whole range of conditions affecting the urinary tract and the male reproductive system.
Our team, which is filled with highly skilled urologists specializes in minimally invasive surgical procedures, kidney stone treatment, prostate care and uro-oncology.We really do strive to ensure the very best outcomes for all our patients.
If you’re dealing with kidney stones, a urinary tract infection, perhaps an enlarged prostate, or even urological cancers, our doctors can offer tailored treatment plans. These plans are created using the latest medical technology. It’s all about personalizing the approach.
1.Kidney Stone Treatment. This covers things like ESWL (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy), which is a non-surgical way of breaking up stones. We also offer PCNL (Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy) for larger kidney stones and URS (Ureteroscopy) with Laser Lithotripsy for minimally invasive stone removal.
2.Prostate Care is also a huge focus. We offer treatment for BPH (Enlarged Prostate), including TURP and Laser Prostatectomy. Prostate cancer diagnosis and robotic surgery are available, too, as are PSA testing and Prostate Biopsy.
3.Urinary Tract and Bladder Disorders, we help with UTIs (Urinary Tract Infections) perform bladder stone removal and deal with overactive bladder and incontinence management.
1.When should I see a urologist?
You should consider a visit if you experience:
Well, it depends, doesn’t it?Small stones (under 5mm) might only require drinking water and pain management. Medium stones (5-10mm) often respond well to ESWL (Shockwave Therapy). For larger stones (over 10mm), PCNL or URS with a laser is usually the way to go.
3.Is prostate enlargement (BPH) dangerous?
BPH is usually non-cancerous, thankfully. However, it can cause some annoying and potentially serious issues like frequent urination and a weak urine flow.It can also lead to urinary retention, where you can’t pass urine and if left untreated, even kidney damage can occur.
4.How is prostate cancer detected?
Doctors use several methods. These include a PSA Blood Test, a Digital Rectal Exam (DRE) and MRI Fusion Biopsy which is typically the most accurate.
5.Is robotic prostate surgery better than traditional surgery?
Yes, in a lot of ways.Robotic surgery offers smaller incisions and less blood loss.Recovery is quicker, perhaps 1-2 weeks versus the traditional 4-6 weeks. Also, it often allows for better nerve preservation, which can lower the risk of ED.
6.Can urinary incontinence be cured?
Fortunately, in many cases, yes!Treatments include pelvic floor exercises (Kegels) medications and nerve stimulation and sometimes, surgical sling procedures for more severe cases.
7.What causes erectile dysfunction (ED)?
There are several common causes. These include diabetes and high blood pressure, low testosterone, stress and anxiety and nerve damage and often after prostate surgery.
At Sri Arogya Hospital, our board-certified urologists are trained in the latest robotic, laser, and laparoscopic techniques to ensure minimal pain, faster recovery, and better results.
